D. Ronald Paik orthopedic and sports medicine specialist is a native of Northern Virginia, Dr. Ronald Paik graduated from the University of Virginia, where he was in the Echols Scholar Honors Program. He received his medical degree from Eastern Virginia Medical School, where he was selected as a National Institutes of Health Summer Research Fellow. He completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at the University of Illinois College of Medicine. He went on to pursue further fellowship training in sports medicine and arthroscopy at the world-renowned Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic, which pioneered the Tommy John surgical procedure for baseball pitchers. He is board certified and received the subspecialty certificate in orthopaedic sports medicine by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery.  He serves on the Self-Assessment Committee for the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine and as an Associate Master Instructor teaching arthroscopic techniques for the Arthroscopy Association of North America.  He is a reviewer for the American Journal of Sports Medicine, Arthroscopy: The Journal of Arthroscopic and Related Surgery, and Sports Health.

Dr. Paik specializes in treating complex disorders of the shoulder, elbow, and knee. His goal is to pursue non-operative treatments when possible, but he is experienced in advanced arthroscopic procedures, surgical repair and reconstruction, and total joint replacements. Dr. Paik makes it a priority to ensure that his patients are well informed about their conditions and treatment options so that they can make educated decisions.
